Of course not. You strike me as an intelligent person who should have no
problems. It's a little difficult to get used to but it's a good learning
experience. If possible keep a working machine with net access handy for
reference.

You may want to try redhat-7.2 it's a cake-walk to install and it will
appear to "just work" for you.

It's not an easy thing to do via phone, and really it's not so difficult
that you can't trundle through it on your own. You'll learn a great deal
doing it yourself.
