I have *heard* that the Cat5e standard insisted in 568A, but I think
that's bogus.  I haven't met anyoine yet who convinced me to use the 568A
standard over 568B.  Besides, data doesn't care what color the wires are
anyway.

Not true!!!  it must be wired in respect to PAIRS.  Pins 1 and 2 must be
in a pair, and 3 and 6 must be in a pair.  In a short run you can get away
with anything, but go over 15 feet or so and even 10Mb will scream.
