Which ever you use, if you have a web server on a machine on your lan
running PHP, then you should install either phpMyAdmin or phpPgAdmin.  These
web-based tools are excellent for general development and administration.
They don't do everything and are not totally bug free -- but they make life
a lot eaiser.
