A search on freshmeat turns up a few, but I haven't tried any of them.

BTW, I got my Epson Perfection 1240U on friday.  IT ROCKS.  I can scan an
8.5x11 sheet of paper at 400dpi in about 10 seconds.  Way faster than any
other scanner I've ever used.  $163 from mwave.com.  

Maybe I'll play around with OCR someday, most of the packages I saw looked
pretty primitive.
