It's hardware RAID.

Well, shortly after I sent out my message, I threw up my hands and tried
rebooting and was then able to mount the partition.  I rebooted to the same
kernel that I was using before the reboot, so it must have just been
something weird.  Who knows.  Thanks for the info, none the less.
