Check out NetApps.  They're pretty cool.  Kinda on the pricy side
though.  If you're going for reliability and performance I'd say
it's pretty tough to beat.

As far as (more) economical solutions go a linux box with external
RAID would proably be the next best thing.  Or if not external at 
least with removable drive bays.

I've seen/used machines with internal (screwed down) harddrives 
which I think defeats the purpose of RAID.  

I haven't used IDE RAID before but it might be worth checking out too.
