Whenever I type smbstatus, I now get the following:

"Couldn't open status file /var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK"

I've stopped, then restarted /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start, but still get
the message, and of course and I can't smbmount any drives from my doze
boxes. I get a good ping from both doze ip addreses, but can't mount
them. The dozers are all configured TCP/IP correctly with the correct
file and print sharing stuff. My smb.conf file (I think) has all the
right stuff in it but wouldn't know for sure if there were neon signs
flashing, "Kenny, you moron, here's the problem."

If you have any suggestions, remember to type slowly. I'm a VERY newbie
Linux user.

TIA

Ken Russell
