Actually it's not even really recommended, any more than compiling it by
hand in /usr/src is. I think the general rule of 'compile as a user'
applies for make-kpkg as well. As long as you have fakeroot.

Now if I could just figure out which kernel-headers package potato
wanted... oops :)
