I consider it to have many of the same flaws as paradise.
It's worse than paradise in a lot of ways.  Paradise suffered from
overscumming; diagonal games with 12 players a side would suffer
from inability to take planets.  Think about it.  If you put 12
players on a side in bronco netrek, the result would be stalemate.
If you then move it diagonal, so that the other two "front line"
planets are twice as close to the defender's homeworld as the attacker's,
what do you think would happen?
