What is this? Two people so far have claimed that I did not believe
this bug exists. I do not recall ever believing that! I do not recall
ever saying it did not exist!

I feel discouraged and humiliated.

I remember asking for a recording.
I remember asking for proof and comments.
I remember saying that it wasn't a terribly important problem.

I do not believe that this means I did not believe it existed!

Now, on that recording ...

a) yes, it clearly shows the problem, thank you,

b) can you tell me if Ff was locked on the starbase? they flew over the
base as if they were trying to dock, but all ports were full, when Fb
came in he docked in the only released port.

c) do you recall if there were any player ejections or ghostbusts while
the starbase was flying? any unusual concatenation of events near the
base?

d) which server was this on? [so I can determine version, architecture,
and the possibility of multi-process race conditions]

e) did the SB pilot try disabling and re-enabling docking?

Update on progress in finding the cause of this defect ... can be viewed
in detail on the Vanilla distribution list archives. If you find
anything else, I'd welcome comments via the distribution list, because
that is where most of the activity is happening on this.

We can easily reproduce it by ejecting ANY player, or triggering a
ghostbust, at any time long before the problem is visible to the SB
player.

We can easily cause the problem to go away by disabling and re-enabling
docking.
