RE: [TCLUG:3624] A new subscriber...

The 115200 connection speed is really misleading. This is the speed of
the serial port between your computer and your modem, not your modem and
the remote modem. To get the more accurate reading, you'll probably need
a better init string (should be in your modem documentation). So, even
though your status reporters tell you you've connected at 115200bps,
you've probably connected at something much lower. Think about it; if you
were connecting at 115200bps, you'd be able to download a 1-megabyte file
in about 70 (1 megabyte= 1,000,000 bytes = 8,000,000 bits / 115200
bits per second = 69.444 secs) seconds. As we all know, that's not really
possible with analog modems (maybe text transmissions with good
compression on your side and "magic bullet" conditions).
