Yes, PGP 5.0 will decrypt keys from PGP 2.6.2.  You may also want to try out
GnuPG, a GPL license replacement of PGP.

There is also a shell program that uses PGP encryption for either GnuPG or
PGP...

I haven't installed either, myself, but have put it on my TODO list.
