You made me curious, so I played around a small bit and I think
this is what you want to do:
:0 Wc
* From.*build.*
| /home/build/updatedb
:0 a
* From.*build.*
| /bin/true
The second rule only runs (and catches the 'c') if the first
rule completes successfully. The second rule must immediately
follow the first.
