I personally have worse than horrible luck compiling Gnome stuff, and I
haven't tried for quite a while..

Anyway, the errors you're getting are related to glib functions and data
types..

Somehow, the glib stuff isn't getting picked up..  (well, that's my
opinion..  I could be wrong.. :-)
