pcmcia eth0 says xmit on stopped card ???

I have a Linksys Combo PCMCIA EthernetCard installed in my slackware 3.5
laptop. I have read the PCMCIA HOWTO and disabled all the network stuff
in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1, and set up /etc/pcmcia/network.opts and put my NFS
mount point in /etc/fstab with the noauto option.

If I pull the card out I get several messages like this:

eth0: xmit on stopped card

Maybe a dozen times. 

Is this normal? A cause for concern? Or what? Can I make the messages go
away?
