My experience after about 12 different kernel compilations without
success for sound was to purchase the $20 OSS sound drivers @
http://www.opensound.com. Well worth the money, you don't need sound
support in the kernel. In fact if you have it, you need to take it
out. I tried every possible combination of sound drivers for my yamaha
opl3-sa. Download the free drivers and take it for a whirl.
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone got a opl3-sa working without
oss.
