the preformance will probably be less, depending on the number of fonts and
graphics set to the printer, because the paralell port is MUCH slower than the
network (you have to consider bottlnecks here) and the printer's
memory/processor can handle data faster than the LPT can send.

i own an HP 4M, i also have the jet-direct card, not the external box, it's
very fast, and was as simple as cut/paste out of the printing HOWTO to set it
up with lpd, it also saves on electricty, an extra box just to printserv for
one printer is somewhat of a waste.
