Re: [TCLUG:21990] Computer stores in the Twin Cities?
I use the serial port for the occasional fax through my sportster. I don't
like haveing defective hardware anyway. Compaq shit.
Funny thing is that the mouse works OK under windows - then I open X-Windows
(either 3.3.6 or 4.0.1 under Linux or FreeBSD) and the mouse jumps all over
and gets stuck in the upper left corner. If I reboot back to Windows 2000,
the login screen never comes up at that point. So, it appears there is more
of a bus problem then just the port. The board has been a nightmare
anyway - no BIOS options at all, and it uses the AMD750/VIA82C686A chipsets.
The former sucks. I was thinking I would upgrade the board and then add
SDRAM133.
Why is some of the RAM "not recommended" for AMD? It only appears to be the
generic stuff and it only appears to be listed that way at Tran Micro.
