I'm interested to know what Linux detects as the system is booted. You
should be able to take a look at what it says (as it usually flies by
pretty quick on modern systems) by running the `dmesg' command
immediately after booting, or by looking in the /var/log/dmesg file. If
Linux does not detect it as a 20GB drive, then your problems are a bit
more complex (though probably fixable by upgrading your kernel or
something).
What kernel/distribution are you running?
