ftp problem

I just installed RedHat 6.2 on a spare system here at work.  When I try to
FTP to it, either from my workstation or from the syste's console, it
gives me the "Connected to 192.168.1.3.", and then sits for about 4
minutes doing seemingly nothing.  It then gives me the servername/version
info line followed by two lines of "530 Please login with USER and PASS"
and "KERBEROS_V4 rejected as authentication type".  Then I can log in and
do all my business.  The problem is that I'm trying to install onto a
mchine with no CDROM so I'm trying to do an FTP and it keeps timing out.
Anyone have an idea?
