Even more interesting... heres a bit from /var/log/messages:

Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalkd[924]: netrange mismatch on eth1
Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalkd[924]: 200-299 != 200-200
Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalkd[924]: Seed error! Exiting!
Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalkd[924]: ap->ap_packet: No such file or
directory
Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalkd: AppleTalk not up!
Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalkd:  Child exited with 1.
Mar 27 06:22:43 firewall atalk: atalkd startup failed


Obviously, something is getting saved over...any clue where to get rid of
that cached value?  I'm getting close to it now...just a little bit more...!
