        X-Chat (www.xchat.org, I think) is what I use. it's pretty solid (I
have crashed it a few times, saving channel lists, but that's it); but
lacking in functionality at times. (there's a few features that are broken,
or not implemented yet... /dcc send being a notable one).
        it does look like it has a lot of potential, tho. offers scripting
in perl or python; and a multitude of useful windows. just needs to get the
bugs and functionality hammered out.
        if i get ambitious; I'll try out cIRCus (which has been around for a
few years), or irssi.
