Evolution (was GPL Exchange (IMAP?) mail client?)

It's the future of e-mail, so say the developers. If you want to check
it out, you'll need the GNOME and GTK development libiaries.

To get anon GNOME CVS:

export CVSROOT=':pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gnome.org:/cvs/gnome'
cvs login (there is no password, just hit return)

(This is stuff NOT in October GNOME, the latest "stable" version of
GNOME)
cvs -z3 checkout bonobo evolution gdk-pixbuf gnome-vfs

Evolution depends on bonobo, gdk-pixbuf, gnome-vfs, so compile these
first.

gnome-vfs depends on libbz2-dev.

For those of you with Palm Pilots, get the gnome-pilot stuff cause
evolution supports it. ( cvs checkout gnome-pilot gnome-pilot-conduits
)

If you have no gnome you might want to do
cvs -z3 checkout glib gtk+ imlib ORBit gnome-libs gnome-core
first.

Evolution uses a libiary called camel which is the implementation of
mail protocols. In theory you could use camel to write a different mail
client.

Well, that's all I needed to get evolution compiling. I'll give you more
info as soon as it's done compiling and I've got it running. =)
