imapd error: command stream

Anyone know what this error message means:

My internet search says that it is time out errors from outlook clients, 
but this is on a small internal network over imap with a win95 client 
runing mulberry. Any ideas?

Jul 31 15:36:40 server imapd[1558]: command stream end of file, while 
reading line user=amanda host=[192.168.1.233]


I'm getting it in my log files and I've heard complaints of users not 
being able to connect to e-mail.
