        well, VMWare just displays in a normal X window; so why couldn't you
throw it across a network? (or just to another display on a multiheaded system).

        crud, there's a thought. 
        that's really what I wanted to do in the first place. :)
        it's not obvious how to do that under windows; is the problem. (I
can do it with TweakUI; but I can't find the reference in the registry).

        something like that. only with a better underlying system. 
        more like a poorman's S/390. ;> ;>

thanks for the registry idea. I think that's what I'll do. have everyone's
'mydocs' (make it a DOS-friendly name) dir point to a SAMBA share on the
office fileserver.
