The best place to look is:
http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/pht/printer_list.cgi
It is a database of all printers that have been tested and/or are
being worked on.
And according to it the status of the HP DeskJet 712C is:
Works in bw only. Compile the ppm2ppa for a
DeskJet 720C. Under RedHat 6.0, looks like 710C If
I need to configure better for more PnP info, let me
know. Waiting for pnm2ppa for color support.
Note: printer doesn't print plain text.
The EPSON Stylus Color 900 status is:
No specific Uniprint parameter file has yet been written,
but stcany.upp and stc500*.upp should work.
Please pipe up if you've written a upp file for this printer!
GIMP's Stylus Color 800 driver works.
Note: printer doesn't print plain text.
