The Cirruslogic cards require a "Linear" option to access these modes (along
with -bpp 32 or something equilviant to kick the Xserver into higher colors)
check out /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/  or something along those lines for
README.cirrus or some file resemboling that (sorry, at mom's windows box :P)
