Re: [CF:1366] CF 0.95.6: Character lost at sea, odd behavior following recovery

Magnus,

Thanks for letting me know I'm not _completely_ delusional (yet! (;-)).

My experience is somewhat limited, but I don't recall seeing it with
v0.93... and I think I'd remember _this_ kind of event (;-).

It's listed on the map as "Ruins of Euthville".

Hm... I would have been heading roughly SE, leaving the Magic Shop and
heading for the exit gate. So SE into the top exit square certainly
seems possible. Of course, I wasn't paying much attention at the time.

Ouch! I recall a "jumpy" point in 0.93 like the one you describe, but I
was apparently fortunate. I never saw anything worse than "odd"
graphics.

What _really_ has me puzzled is all the oddities that only appeared
after I fell through a crack in the map, and yet which now seem semi-
permanent. I'd _really_ like to be able to 'drop quantities, and every
time I visit the basement of Goth's now I seem to pick up another "Arrow
Of Mystery" whose icon points in a random direction, that I can't drop,
can't identify, and is otherwise pretty useless (;-).

Is there any "formal" way of "resetting" the Crossfire server so it will
act as if it were just installed (e.g. 'make reset')? I've read enough
to know that there are permanent and temporary maps, so I'm going to
start by deleting all the stuff that looks "temporary" and see what
happens. If that fails, or produces different "odd stuff", I'll rerun
'make install' and see if that clears the problem.

I'm assuming the odd stuff _will_ go away at _some_ point... <grin?>

Anyway, thanks again for the information. I'm just glad there's only one
user (me) attaching to this server, so when I clear everything out I
won't get zillions of nasty e-mail messages.
