Execution Errors - Latest CVS Version

Okay, okay... 
I think I know what's going on.
Some how my 'make' command is wiping the file: crossfire.cfb
When I update this file from the CVS tree (and type make install again) I get the following error:

Initialize new client/server data
Unable to read bitmap data for face #3469
Abort (core dumped)
--
What does this mean?


Also, earlier in the execution I get the message:

Initializing spells...
Unrecognized spell: transference

Unrecognized spell: 5 10 8 0 2 0 2
done.
--

Which is why transference hasn't been working for a while methinks.

Is anybody out there?

I am using Linux RedHat 6.0 - total installation
