Well, there are some very good ways (which reminds me, alchemy stuff
should probably be created identified (or at least detect cursed), since a
smart alchemist just alchemizes everything, avoids identifying it and
cashes in 40 platinum for each of those worthless but now alchemized
clubs... (you get valuable but cursed items when you alchemize, but if
you dont detect...)). Using the various methods available for killing
dragons is another way. Slaughtering large amounts of skeletons if you
have smithery and bowyer skills, etc. Mostly it's a matter of patience or
guts :).

Yep, the certain statloss is a part of the problem, since it generates the
need for rather easily available potions, which results in the problem of 
excessive use by more powerful characters. I'd suggest a limited
likelyhood of statloss and/or specific restoration potion instead.

Yep, agreed.

Well, I dont think we should feel tied to the ad&d system :) As systems go
it has its flaws too, and was hardly adapted to the type of play crossfire
is.
