CF: help

hi,
 I have problems running crossfire on my IBM clone with linux,
 I can compile every thing fine, and all the binaries are all
 there but when I go to type crossfire it comes out with this
 error....
           Eerror getting protobyname

      ...what does this mean? Is there any thing else that I
 have to do other than what it says in the INSTALL file to run
 cf on linux. Any help would be much apprecited.
