A couple bugs...?

After way too much crossfire playing this weekend, I've
stumbled across what appear to be a couple of bugs (well, ok, only one
may really be a bug). One, which hit me twice this weekend (but never
before), is that when changing maps the map window would go blank
(i.e. every tile is just solid black). Everything else looked just
fine. The first time happened when I entered the "downtown" inn in
the starting city (Scorn?), and the second was when going between a
couple levels of the Tower of the Stars. In both cases the console
had a message reading something like (this example for the second one):

No temporary filename for map /peterm/CTower/Laboratory
Trying to insert object outside the map

The second time I saved the game there (with the 'save' command) and
then killed the process and restarted it. It put me outside the
normal playing area (just like it said it had) and I had to restore
from a backup character file (good thing I had one!). Can anyone say
what would cause this? I still have room on the file system, so it
shouldn't be due to lack of disk space. It almost sounds to me like
it is trying to determine a unique name to use to save the temporary
file (in /tmp), but it can't (all of them already in use?!?). But
this doesn't sound right.

The other problem (which I think really IS a bug) appears to be a
problem with the inventory system. I had a Luggage with lots of stuff
in it which I emptied on the ground. When I went to put some stuff
back in it, it said that I couldn't (it said it couldn't hold it or
something like that). I noticed then that the weight of the Luggage
given in the inventory window was 3.0 kg, despite the fact that
left-clicking on it with the mouse to display the stats for it in the
message window listed it as weighing 20.0 (what it should). What
gives? My only guess is that the inventory system messed up and took
off too much weight when removing the contents of the Luggage and then
that caused it to not accept anything else. My solution to this was
of course to sell it and get another. But I still thought this was
odd. I have done exactly the same thing many times before and never
had this problem.
