Really weird bug that I can't figure out

I was trying to get tell to work at noticed something
really funny.

It finds the proper command in parse_string just fine and
passes command_tell the proper arguments but when I step into
command_tell, the second argument changes. Actually the pointer
it gets is basically null (it points to 0x1008 instead of the address of the
argument string). I'm pretty sure the code is right so the only
other explaination I can think of is a compiler bug. Anybody out there
have crossfire compiled with something besides gcc that can test this
theory for me?
