It is into and out of the Max with respect to whateverinterface you
place the filter on.

If you install the filter in a WAN connection (connection profile
under Session Options or in RADIUS) then it is into the Max from the
WAN and out from the max to the WAN.

If you install the filter on an Ethernet interface
(Mod Config/Ether Options/Filter), then it is into the Max from the
Ethernet and out of the max to the Ethernet.
