(ASCEND) MaxTNT v7.0.4 and LT Winmodems and Rockwell HCF modems

We have recently upgraded to TAOS 7.0.4 on our MaxTNT and have had a ton of
problems with users that own either an LT Winmodem or Rockwell/Conextant
HCF modem.
I have been told that a firmware upgrade on the part of the users modem
will solve this. most of the times it does, that is if you can get the
firmware update for that exact modem to the user.
Sometimes it does not work, then what?
Not to mention that people are "less than happy" to have to deal with this.
Sometimes I have been able to get people online with init strings that
disable v.90, but sometimes even that does not work.

Has anyone else out there have these problems? Does anyone have any
suggestions?
The 56k.com and v.Unreliable sites have also helped a lot, but there are
still problems.

Is there anything i can do to my TNT to make this transition easier or is
"firmware upgrades for all" in order?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
