(ASCEND) Problem with Conexant(Rockwell?) SoftK56 Modem to Max4000/2000 with V.90
Hi all,
I have a user with a brand new computer with a Conexant SoftK56 Modem, he
couldn't connect from his house so I got him to bring his computer in to
our office where it connected at just under 50K. So I asked him to get
Telstra to check his lines, they said the line was fine and gave him a
report that dialed into some Telstra NAS and performed some test, it also
said he was connecting Rx/Tx of 31200/45333 with V.90( from his home).
So I went to his house and tried dialing in to our Max4000(6.1.3) and our
Max2000(7.0.4) without success. With both the modem just keeps retraining
for about 2 mins and then just stops and we get an error message saying "no
answer".
So I opened Hyperterminal and dialed into another ISP (OzEmail) and it
connected fine at just under 50K (The terminal windows came up with Bay
Networks Annex not sure if they V.90 or Kflex still)
So I forced his modem to connect to us with V.34 at 33600... no problems,
so I tried V.90 33600 and again same problem with the retrain, even 28800
V.90 wouldn't go.
So all I can put it down to is the V.90 code not being compatible between
the Max and his modem from his house (As it connects fine from Work!), does
anyone know if there is a further V.90 update for this modem or anything
else I can try?
Here are some of the modems reposes
ATI3 SoftK56V_B2.1_V2.05
ATI5 009
ATI6 CModem Version 11
ATI6 Rksample Version 340
Thanks
