RE: (ASCEND) Ticket #802135 - Disconnect Problems on 4048 with 7.0.1
Okay I'll have to chime in too.
Sadly, the response I got in this forum last time I mentioned this sort of
thing was the usual rhetoric about how line quality can be affected by many
different parameters, and I had not adequately researched the problem.
Ugh! I think we're all professionals here and yes I know squirrels gnawing
on a customer's line or a hard rain can cause unpredictable and inconsistent
results. I also know that customers changing their MTU/MRU size can dork
themselves up. And I know an ocean of other tricks and scenarios to keep in
mind when faced with mysterious slow downs/disconnects.
Most of all, however, I *know* the Ascend gear has something to do with it.
Sorry, I don't have the resources to scope the line and look for lost bits
to help Ascend debug their stuff. After all, I imagine they have pretty
sophisticated labs for just that sort of work. And surely they're more
qualified than myself to do that sort of thing . . .
Getting them to officially 'fess up, however, that there's any problem at
all beyond my own incompetence and/or customer idiocy, is like pulling teeth
and that's pretty annoying and frustrating.
Vote with your pocketbook.
