(ASCEND) Ascend Radius server

Hi all
I'm a bit confusing because I'm going to buy a Max 4000 with 16 modem V90
and I don't know if I've have to use ascend radius or other as
cistron-radius...
what are the differences ? why people says cistron is better than ascend ?
it is possible ?
I have to manage Max for doing to people limited access by hour or separate
analog user from ISDN users...I have a RedHat Linux 5.2 to use for radius
server..there is some matter for this ?
I hope someone can help me
