(ASCEND) FYI: Connection Stats

Hey all,

It's been a while since I've seen anyone post stats of any sort. I was
doing this for someone else last night, and thought I'd share with the list
since some of you might find this information useful

Our dialup pool is comprised of a mix of 4xxx and 6xxx boxes, all running
7.0.22 with OSPF and Stacking enabled (boxes are spread out among several
locations)

Total calls logged for this period was 282147. I would tell you how long
the period is, but we have a few competitors on this list, and the boss
doesn't want them to know too much about our operation :)

Here's the dirt on people's disconnections:

45 - PPP - Received Terminate Request 190698 67.59%
184 - Remote end hung up 38316 13.58%
100 - Session Timeout 20815 7.38%
11 - DCD detected but went inactive 12018 4.26%
42 - PPP - PAP Auth Failed 6967 2.47%
195 - Session Timelimit 4299 1.52%
10 - Modem never detected DCD 4033 1.43%
47 - PPP - No NCPs were opened 1513 0.54%
2 - Unknown 1185 0.42%
1 - Not Applicable 812 0.29%
35 - MPP - no NULL msg timeout 411 0.15%
27 - TermSrv - CTRL-C during login 384 0.14%
40 - PPP - LCP Timeout 238 0.08%
49 - PPP - LCP close MP add fail 211 0.07%
25 - TermSrv - Login Failed 104 0.04%
41 - PPP - LCP Negotiation Failed 61 0.02%
101 - Invalid incoming user 20 0.01%
31 - TermSrv - Exit rlogin 8 0.00%
20 - TermSrv - User Quit 5 0.00%
151 - Disconnect by local admin 1 0.00%

As you all know, these stats would have more meaning if they were correlated
with the Progress Codes. I was in a rush with these stats, and didn't have
time to do a full analysis. On my TO-DO list, is a script that will do some
serious damage to the detail files and tell me what's really going on :)

We're growing, so hopefully, I'll have the opportunity to generate similar
stats with much more data and also be able to break it down by POP and other
qualifiers.
