(ASCEND) DSL-HST; DHCP; DSLTNT; Plug and Play problems.

Dear Ascend-list,

I cannot get DHCP Plug and Play as it is described in the DSLPipe manual to
work. This is a new installation of a DSLTNT, running 7.0.22. The DSLPipes
are SDSL-HST's running 7.0.4 I think. They just arrived a few days ago.
The DHCP server is running ISC's (Internet Software Consortium) DHCPD 3.0
beta 1 patchlevel 0.

I have followed the printed manual's description of DHCP PnP, but had no
success. I followed the online manuals' description of DHCP PnP to little
success and I've tried everything I can think of or even things that look
remotely related to my problem and had very limited success.

I have finally been able to get the remote units to do a DHCP and accept its
address, but it has the wrong netmask and other things in its config make it
unusable. I am concentrating my efforts on the DSLTNT config, because I
shouldn't have to do anything to the configs of the DSLPipes.

What I am trying to do:
We are bringing our Apartment complexes online over the next several years.
We are putting a DSL in each wiring closet. That wiring closet then serves
the apartments around it with 10bt ethernet (about 4 to 8 dwellings). We
have created an IP address range for use in the apartments.

The DSLTNT, has 4 24port SDSL cards.

What I am trying to do is get the DSLPipes to do a DHCP and retrieve their
config off a tftp server. The config I eventually want to get to work is:

1. Bridge everything over the DSL circuit.
2. Each DSLPipe to have an IP address - just to very if connections are up.

Thats it! Pretty simple, huh? However, I cannot get DHCP to work. I really
don't want to address 100+ pipes manually. I'd rather use the human
technology (as opposed to alien technology) of DHCP and PnP to get it to
work.

What I need is a detailed config of how to setup the DSLTNT to give the
DSLPipes an address from a DHCP server and then set themselves up for
bridging.

When I follow the manual's specific instructions, I get this connection:

admin> userstat -l
SessionID Line/Chan Slot:Item Tx/Rx Rate Svc Address Username
ConnTime IdleTime Dialed#
304013019 1.02.01/001 1:02:01/000 784K/56000 FRY 0.0.0.0 fr
18:04:18 0:00:00
<end user list> 1 active user(s)
admin>

However, I can ping the unit's real ip address and even telnet to it. Other
wierd things are happening as well. IP-Routing has to be enabled in the
profile or the connection goes down. I want a bridged connection.

Any ideas? Or how about a dump of a working config?
