if you have version 3 software, you have a _really_ old pipeline,
(the oldest I've seen since I started using them in 1994 was 4.2)
and chances are it won't be able to run the latest software.
take a look at the back of it, unplug the power connector,
is it a round connecter with 6 pins?
is there a small side switch next to the ethernet port?
if the answer to the first is "yes", and the second "no"
you have the original Pipeline 50 which was last supported in 5.1ap9.
while I have never actually seen a model this old,
I believe they run their software straight from Flash memory
(or if before Flash, was it just some sort of EEPROM?)
anyway, if you are serious about building filters,
you'll want to buy a newer model which has more memory.
(and if you do, I'd like to buy the old one,
I have a sort of collection of old Ascend gear...)
