Precisely right. I took this theory and tested it w/ a NAT'ed pipeline we
have in the office.  If i hit a server running sendmail v8.8.x, it had the
delay.  Any other mailserver, including my own NT server, didn't have the
delay.  If we set the Ident.Timeout to 0, the problem went away on our
sendmail server..
