(ASCEND) 7.0b6 for Max family



The 7.0b6 beta release for the MAX family is now available to registered
users on www.ascend.com.  The user will see a link to the Beta Agreement
Form from their logon confirmation screen.  

The agreement starts at:  http://www.ascend.com/private/beta

If the user accepts the agreement they are taken to an index page with all
of the available images.  The cumulative release notes for this software
are detailed per beta release.

The 7.0b6 beta release for the MAX family contains the following:
Features:
* Radius Vendor-Specific Attribute (VSA) support

Corrections:
* TR 3301       SNMP:MAX replies incorrect ipRouteProto MIB value of (32)
and (33) 
* TR 3597       MAX does not kill link when CHAP authentication fail. 
* TR 258581   LAN Security Error using CLID callback


The 7.0b4 beta release for the MAX family contains the following:
Corrections:
* TR 3245 PIAFS: 17th call is accepted with no data communication 
* TR 3604 Framed-IPX-Network attribute doesn't work on MAX 
* TR 3792 MAX Reset With Fatal Index 8
* TR 3794 Immediate Modem failed when "Imm. Modem Access = User"


The 7.0b2 beta release for the MAX family contains the following:
Features:
*  R2 CLID processing added for Malaysia
*  Authentication failure message sent to PPP client
*  Reserve call capacity based on called number
*  E1 ISDN redirection number stored in RADIUS accounting
*  Per-session anti-spoofing filter
*  Proxy-QOS and TOS support in the MAX
*  A single load created for R2 Brazil
*  Send Name added to Connection Profile
*  Ability to Set or Get NAS Port ID format via SNMP
*  SNMP support for ATMP-related information
*  Ability to manage DNIS via SNMP
*  Type of service support
*  Need SNMP MIB for ATMP
*  SNMP: (7.0) Allowed NAS Port ID format to be GET/SET via SNMP
*  MultiVoice: VOIP ANI (a.k.a CLID) feature

Corrections:
* TR 3599     Quiescing PRI Line not resulting in intended effect
* TR 3213     E1 K56 maxes exhibit lower modem performance
* TR 3285     10-100 Windows does not match sessions windows
* TR 3336     CLID authenticated MP calls (internal ISDN TAs) are not
cleared correctly
* TR 3358     Frame Relay Backup Routing Problem

The 7.0b0 beta release for the MAX family contains the following:
Features:
* ISDN BRI "U" interface Network Card for MAX400x
* AO/DI (Always On / Dynamic ISDN)
* Suppress Host Route Advertisement/dial out record  Enchantment
* Request for DHCP and NAT on the Multiband MAX 6000
* After radius auth, return attribute 18 back to PPP dialin client
* 4BRI version of MAX1800
* R2 CLID processing added for India
* Add security profile attribute to connection profiles
* Add two new options to the TSAVE command
* MD5 authentication for OSPF (RFC2178)
* MAX 200: Reassignable status menus

Rockwell code versions:
Series56 Digital Modem Modules support Rockwell 2.084 firmware. 
V.34 Digital Modem Modules support version 1.610G19. 
Rockwell 2.084 firmware supports v.90, K56flex, K56plus, and all slower,
standard modem speeds.


Notice of discontinuance:
Software support for V.34 modem slot cards will be phased out of new TAOS
code releases beginning with  TAOS 7.1.  The last TAOS release to contain
software support for V.34 slot cards for the MAX family is  TAOS 7.0.
