(ASCEND) Caller id question.
On my MAXTNT it doesn't look like I am receiving callerid (dnis?)
information. The book and even the pdf's seem to be a bit outdated in the
log format. DNIS is the remote caller, not the number they dialed, if I
understand this correctly.
Here is the entry of the syslog where I think I should be receiving caller
id:
Sep 21 15:47:57 maxtnt.host.edu 1/17: [1/1/1/1] Incoming Call [MBID
1; ->#######]
maxtnt.host.edu is a bogus domain name.
The ####### is the telephone number that the user dialed to get into the
tnt.
Otherwise... this is Exactly as it appears in my log.
If I read the doc correctly, dnis or remote caller info should be between
MBID 1; ? and ->#######, right?
Here is a bit later after negotiating the connection rate:
Sep 21 15:48:52 maxtnt.host.edu 1/4: [1/4/1/0] LAN session info: Conn=(?
26400/26400 44/2) Auth=(30 20/0 129/0) Sess=(25 20/0 129/0) [MBID
1; ->#######] [username]
Same deal with maxtnt.host.edu and ####### and I use username for the
person's username.
Should the "?" be the incoming remote telephone number? Does the "?" mean
that bell is not sending me CallerID info? Are there some setting I should
flip to log caller id info? According to the manuals I should not have to
with T1's / PRI's only E1's.
