(ASCEND) Re: P 75 NAT, traceroute - I fixed it :-) (ASCEND this is Ridiculous)

Hi, Dennis. I am truly envious. I have also been begging
ASCEND to fix traceroute for the Pipeline 75, when using NAT for
almost 1 year now, and I have received many, many trouble
tickets, and often some glimmer of hope that the next software
revision would fix this bug. As you recall, I get irritated
when some at Ascend contend that fixing the traceroute problem
is not a bug fix, but rather would be a "enhancement request"..

Well, whatever they call it, it should have been fixed long ago.
I have a Web page, that helps folks set up their Ascend routers,
I have had thousands of hits, and handle several e-mails a day.
Inevitably a few days after many get their routers up and
running, I get another e-mail saying "Why can't I get traceroute
to work, when I use NAT??"..

This mess really is ridiculous, and it has gone on way too long.
Dennis, I too am sick and tired of waiting for a fix for this
Bug, and I too am going to get rid of my P75 and buy a router
that works properly.. Obviously nobody at Ascend really wants
to get or keep our business..

Tell me what other routers you looked at before deciding on the
Netgear??

Thanks for the note, I am glad you finally got traceroute to
work, even if you had to buy another company's router!!!
