The installed base of PortMaster's isn't exactly negligible - the installed
base of Cascade access gear was.

And keep in mind that the TNT is being replaced by the TNT II anyway.  And
by all reports it is NOT HW compatible with the old units.  THey could
easily continue to produce the TNT for current customers, but why bring out
a TNT II when the PM-4 is out?  It would be easier to add any desired 
features to the PM-4 and consolidate on the existing platform.

I think the real question would be MAX6000 and PM-3.  I'd rather think the
PM-3 would replace the MAX4000 family, while the MAX6000 might continue.
That could stop development of a higher density PM-3+ unit.
