When you want to be in serious danger of messing up your LAN. :-)
Seriously, the intent of this option is to make the Pipeline respond
with its own Mac address to ARP requests for addresses which are not
on the local LAN. This means you can use a form of proxy ARP based
routing that doesn't require that the nodes on the LAN be
configured with default routes (or any routes at all).
The problem is that if you stick the Pipeline, accidentally or
intentionally, on any LAN on which it is *not* the intended default
gateway, it will start issuing all sorts of bogus ARP responses and
pollute the network such that it doesn't work anymore. The problem
will remain in effect even after the Pipeline is removed, until
ARP caches expire.
In other words, it's very dangerous.
