RE: (ASCEND) How to track 800 # usage???
Here is a method that works for me:
Add another phone number. Don't tell anyone what it is.
Point the 800 number to the new phone number.
When you see the DNIS [new number] then you know that they
are calling the 800 number (or they are foolishly calling
the new number..) and you will bill them for it.

Subject: (ASCEND) How to track 800 # usage???
Hello;
We are thinking about offering 800 # service for out dialups.
Currently we are running to Ascend Maxen running RADIUS on Redhat Linux
5.0. We get caller ID info in our detail file, but there is no distiction
between someone dialing the toll free line or the standard number. I'm
trying to figure out how we can bill for this service. What are others
doing? The one sollution I had (so far) was to give clients a new login
name for 800 service, i.e
"800joe" as oppsed to "joe" although if they forget to change their login
name and just change the # they will soon discover they can still login and
they may not ever use the "800" prefix.
Certainly there is a good way to pull this off, as others have some
sort of sollution. If you know one, I'd sure appreciate knowing.
