Re: (ASCEND) My own personal mini-ISP?



I just noticed this message, so you may have already gotten an answer or
worked through all this, but:

Seems to me you could do it.

Whether you could use the addresses on your current subnet depends
entirely upon whether there are address conflicts with your work network
or the Internet as a whole.  Are you using the 192.168.x.x range,
designated for private addresses (there's a 20.x.x.x range, too, but I
don't recall the proper numbers past the 20!)?

NAT would sidestep those concerns, but may break some applications,
depending on what you're wanting to do, exactly.  Besides, my
recollection is that NAT is only supported for one connection profile,
so that messes you up.

If it were I, I'd assign 192.168 addresses to my local machines and not
worry about it (Yes, bite the bullet and change your router
configurations).  Corrections welcome!  ;-)
