(ASCEND) LAN Security Errors

I know the definition of LAN Security Error and have searched the docs and
Ascends web site without luck so now I am once again turning to the list for
information. :)

Setup: 5 MAX 40xx's running 6.1.0 using RIPv2

Recently we have had periods where users are trying to log in and are
receiving "Invalid Username or Password" errors even thoug they are
supplying the correct username. The only thing that shows up in the logs is:

Oct 12 10:18:46 pinn-max3.pinn.net ASCEND: slot 8 port 1, LAN security
error, spik [MBID 438; 757xxxxxxx->xxxxxxx]
Oct 12 10:19:44 pinn-max1.pinn.net ASCEND: slot 7 port 4, LAN security
error, spik [MBID 424; 757xxxxxxx->xxxxxxx]
Oct 12 10:21:34 pinn-max1.pinn.net ASCEND: slot 7 port 3, LAN security
error, spik [MBID 429; 757xxxxxxx->xxxxxxx]
Oct 12 10:18:52 pinn-max3.pinn.net ASCEND: call 34 CL 0K  u=spik c=42 p=65
s=38000 r=28800
Oct 12 10:19:57 pinn-max1.pinn.net ASCEND: call 38 CL 0K  u=spik c=42 p=65
s=40000 r=28800
Oct 12 10:21:38 pinn-max1.pinn.net ASCEND: call 43 CL 0K  u=spik c=42 p=65
s=38000 r=28800

This has gotten so bad that users are being forced to try and log in
sometimes as many as five times before getting authenticated. As you can see
above this happens on different MAX's as well. I have tried to stop and
restart radiusd without success and I have tried shutting down the MAX's
just to have the problem resurface. If anyone has any ideas what I could do
to better track the problem or if anyone has ever seen this before please
let me know.
